Unsigned Windows Installer Guidelines
Because ClipForge processes video files entirely locally on your machine and keeps your raw footage private, the application runs inside a local desktop container. Since the installer is currently unsigned, Windows SmartScreen and web browsers will trigger security warnings. Follow these steps to complete setup safely.
Why is ClipForge Unsigned?
Code signing certificates require a multi-week identity and business verification process. To support immediate beta testing and release updates, the setup file is shipped unsigned. ClipForge does not transmit your private video files to any third-party cloud servers.
Step 1: Downloading in Your Browser
Browsers may flag the executable because it is not yet commonly downloaded:
- Microsoft Edge: Click the three dots
...next to the download warning block, choose Keep, click Show more, and select Keep anyway. - Google Chrome: Click the arrow or options icon next to the warning, select Keep. If prompted with a verification step, confirm that you trust the source.
Step 2: Windows Defender SmartScreen Bypass
When you start the installer, Windows Defender SmartScreen will display a blue alert block stating "Windows protected your PC":
- Click the underlined "More info" text directly below the description text.
- This reveals the Publisher field (marked as Unknown Publisher) and enables a new action button.
- Click the "Run anyway" button at the bottom-right corner of the window.
- If Windows User Account Control (UAC) prompts you for execution access, confirm with Yes to allow the installation wizard to deploy files.
Step 3: Troubleshooting AV False Positives
If the installer is blocked or quarantined completely by custom local antivirus rules:
- Locate the downloaded
ClipForge-Setup-[version].exefile in your Downloads folder. - Right-click the file and select Properties.
- Under the General tab, look at the Security section at the bottom.
- Check the Unblock checkbox and click Apply, then run the installer again.
